A ski erg replicates the double-pole motion of Nordic skiing: pull two handles down from overhead using lats, triceps, core and hips. It is an intense, zero-impact cardio movement that can be done standing, kneeling or seated, which makes it useful for athletes and adaptive users alike.

The Concept2 SkiErg is the standard, with the same PM5 monitor as the RowErg. It mounts to a wall or to an optional floor stand and takes almost no floor space. Compare mounting options, monitor, weight and whether the unit supports seated (adaptive) use.

More About Ski Machines (SkiErg)

Ski ergs suit facilities that already have rowers and bikes and want another low-impact, high-output station for HIIT circuits and team conditioning. Because the load is on the upper body, they are also used in rehab for lower-limb injuries and by wheelchair athletes.

Installation is simple: bolt the unit to a stud wall or use the floor stand. Height is about 7 feet on the stand. No electricity is needed. Maintenance is minimal — keep the cords clean and check the fan housing periodically.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a SkiErg be used seated?

Yes. Using a bench or wheelchair, the double-pole movement works well from a seated position and is common in adaptive sport training.

Do I need the floor stand?

Only if you cannot or do not want to wall-mount. The floor stand makes the unit freestanding and movable.

What muscles does a ski erg work?

Lats, triceps, shoulders, abdominals and the hip hinge (glutes and hamstrings). It is a pulling movement that complements pushing work on other machines.
