The Woodway Force Treadmill is the ultimate tool for developing speed and power via resistance training. This Sport Loading Platform provides coaches and trainers with a controlled atmosphere from which to develop lower extremity output, increase stride length and increase overall explosiveness with measurable results for their athletes. Based on WOODWAY’s patented slat and ball bearing design, the Force does not have a drive motor, but actually a magnetic braking system (0-150 lb.) that turns the athlete/user into ’the force’ which drives the belt. The Force works by tethering the athlete to the rear of the treadmill and having them actually spin the belt as they run; adding resistance increases the force that the athlete must generate to run. The biggest advantage of the Force is the ability to produce measurable results.
Virtual Sprinting mode on the Force involves training with little to no added resistance and provides the opportunity to concentrate and work on stride length, stride frequency and to coach running technique. As load is added either manually, or via programmed intervals, the athlete must in turn generate more power (output so as to propel the track assembly), which functionally mimics pushing off and propelling their body down the field, court or track. This Varied Resistance Mode can be constructed to provide even more specificity to the sport once the work/rest ratio of the activity is factored in so that Energy System Development Training (ESD) is accomplished. Form Training in all training modes is made simple by the fact that the athlete is fixed in space, providing continuous ’real time’ form monitoring and coaching opportunity. Once running form is analyzed and coached in all phases of running performance, including fatigue states that rob the athlete of speed dependent good form, real performance gains can be coached, seen and monitored.
